Deck Profile

The Mega Lucario ex deck is a straight-forward aggressive deck that works to build up your Pokémon and swing. Mega Lucario ex himself has two low-cost attacks and will serve as your main attacker, with Lunatone and Solrock serving as your deck's draw engine. Hariyama and Meowth ex are your support Pokémon, with Hariyama doubling as a secondary attacker.

Lunatone & Solrock

Lunatone and Solrock are the deck's main draw engine, a tool to help you pull the cards that you need from your deck. As long as Solrock is in play, Lunatone’s Lunar Cycle Ability lets you discard a Basic Fighting Energy from your hand to draw 3 cards once per turn. This helps you find the cards you need while setting up your discard pile for Mega Lucario’s Aura Jab attack, which filters discarded Basic Fighting Energy back onto the board. Solrock may seem like it's just there for Lunatone, its Cosmic Beam attack can prove useful if you start with the two of them on the board. Ignoring all weaknesses and resistances, it can hit for 70 damage with one Fighting energy, allowing for early game Knock Outs of your opponent's Basic Pokémon.

Mega Lucario ex

Mega Lucario ex is a powerful attacker with the ability to power up your other Pokémon. When you use Aura Jab to hit for 130, you can attach up to 3 Basic Fighting Energy cards from your discard to your Benched Pokémon. This means that the Energy that's discarded by Lunatone's Lunar Cycle is still in play! When you’re ready, use Mega Brave for 270 damage! Just don’t forget that it comes at a cost - Mega Lucario ex can't use Mega Brave two turns in a row.

Hariyama

The Energy recycling from Aura Jab can be used to set up another Mega Lucario ex, but there's another solid attacker in the deck - Hariyama. For 3 Fighting Energy (the amount you can attach with one Aura Jab!), you can swing with Wild Press for 210, though it also does 70 damage to itself. Hariyama doubles as a support Pokémon with its Heave-Ho Catcher ability. When Makuhita evolves into Hariyama, you may choose to Switch in 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon into the Active Spot. This means you can pick who you want your opponent to have in play - use this for a sneaky Knock Out, or to pull up a Pokémon that can't do much in order to stall while you set up an attacker.

Support

The ACE-SPEC included in this deck is Maximum Belt. This card is a Pokémon Tool that attaches to a Pokémon and makes its attacks against ex Pokémon do 50 more damage. Keep in mind that, because it's only effective against ex Pokémon, it won't have any effect when facing decks that don't use any, like Alakazam or Slowking.

Meowth ex is a support Pokémon used for it's ability, Last-Ditch Catch, which allows you to search for any Supporter card whenever Meowth ex is played from your hand to your Bench. While there is a way to get Meowth ex back into your hand with its Tuck Tail attack, most of the time, this is a once-per-game Ability, so use it wisely!

Premium Power Pro is an invaluable Item card to Mega Lucario ex and Hariyama. When you use it, all of the attacks used by your Fighting Pokémon do 30 more damage that turn. It's a limited resource, but also one that you can use multiple times per turn.
